Snowy Weather Tip

With all of this snow in the northeast it is sometimes hard to stay fashionable but still be functional. This leads me to my snowy weather tip of the day: Always wear rain boots in the snow!
For years upon years I wore leather boots or UGG boots in the snow and my feet would always be freezing; sometimes my feet would even be wet because the boots soaked up the snow/slush/water which penetrated through the boot and my sock, leaving me with cold sopping wet feet (not fashionable, functional, or fun at all!) Rain boot are made completely of rubber, which repels any water and keeps your whole foot, ankle, and leg dry no matter what. Be sure to buy boots that have a textured rubber sole for increased traction, allowing you to have a slip free experience.
My two favorite, go-to pairs of rain boots are Hunter Boots that I previously blogged on (Click here: Fab-YOU-lous: Hunter Rain Boots) and these fabulous Burberry boots that can be seen above. I started wearing tall rain boots in the snow just a few years ago, and the difference is amazing! Never again will I have to suffer through having wet feet from wearing UGGs or any other type of boot- Rain boots are the only way to go when it is snowing!
Another helpful hint: wear thick fuzzy socks with your boots or invest in a pair of Hunter "Welly Socks"- they will keep you toasty all day long! Stay warm and dry, fashionistas!

Manly Monday

It is Monday, fashionistas, and you know what that means... it's time for another Manly Monday! This week we have Tony Lopez here with us as a guest blogger! So without further adieu, here is Tony :) Thanks everyone!

Look at that. Do you feel inspired? That is a blueprint from the archives of Man Legend Tim Leatherman. A man's purse is his multitool, and my multitool is my Leatherman.

The attractive piece of metal you see above is the Leatherman Wave, my permanent accessory. You make a statement when you wear one of these on your belt. People look up to you. They look to you to open things. And while you will excel at opening things, applications are endless. With this unassuming piece of steel I have replaced my cell phone's capacitive touch screen, fixed a leak in my motorcycle's carburetor, trimmed down the leg of a table, and repaired my girlfriends tangled necklace (I also used dental floss for that one).

For me, and for many men, utility as well as fashion plays a role into what is worn and what is carried. It has happened to me more than once that a group of men gathers and notices the others' Leathermans (Leathermen?), nodding knowingly. And there are many different models, each with timeless advantages and nuances that mirror the individuality of he who chose it. The Leatherman is much more than an accessory, and more than a fashion statement. It is a symbol of ingenuity: a token which through its resource and reliability becomes a friend.

Man picked up stone and shaved it into a knife before he donned his first scrap of clothing. The power of a tool is so deeply rooted in a man's psyche that they continue to be revolutionized today. The outrageous practicality of a multitool often masks its secondary function as a statement of worth. What is the point of fashion, but to enjoy one's own expression? A multitool like a Leatherman is just such an expression, and it will be for millennia to come.

Thanks for reading everyone!

Quite a Worthwhile Read

I purchased this book, "That Extra Half an Inch: Hair, Heels and Everything in Between" written by Victoria Beckham, on my quest to read lots of fashion books this summer. I wasn't quite sure what it was going to be all about, but the few reviews I read were quite positive, so I figured I would give it a shot.

First of all, I absolutely LOVE Victoria Beckham, she is the epitome of posh fashion and glamour, and is definitely at the top of my list of personal fashion icons. She has created quite a name for herself- starting with the international girl band the Spice Girls, then becoming the wife of superstar David Beckham and mom to her lovely boys, and now as a fashion icon to many, even dabbling in creating her own lines of dresses, jeans, fragrance, and sunglasses.

Victoria has accomplished so much already it would be hard to not find value in her advice and tips, especially on fashion! She ALWAYS dresses herself, and has never hired a stylist (apart from things like magazine cover shoots where they have them on set)- she always pulls her own clothes, and styles every outfit herself. Although this may seem like an obvious 'no brainer' for people, you would be surprised... Almost all celebrities have stylists who dress them for every premiere, party, event, and even everyday life- well Victoria does this all on her own, and I believe she pulls it together MUCH better than any stylist ever could.

Victoria uses this book to share all that she has learned over her diverse career. She gives the reader great advice about what is appropriate to wear/how to dress for specific special occasions, work, nights out on the town, dates, etc. And even better, she tells you exactly where to buy these staples- not only at the expensive shops, but also at cheaper stores (like H&M) where you can get similar looks for less.

Victoria gives amazing fashion, style, and beauty tips to make you look fabulous every time you leave the house. The amazing pictures in this book were just as wonderful as the tips and advice- every picture included is absolutely stunning. Flipping through the pictures alone transports you into a fabulously glamorous world of fashion, and inspires you to dress beautifully and appropriately, while always making time to take care of yourself.

Well, clearly I loved every page of this book because I finished it in one and a half days (it is almost 400 pages, but there were many pictures). I would definitely recommend this read to glamour girls who wants some up-front and honest advice from a beautiful, experienced, down to earth superstar who really knows what she is talking about. Two thumbs up to Victoria, she is FABULOUS!

You can purchase this book at any major bookstore or on Amazon (very cheap).
