Amazing Fashion Reference Book

This book is like the Bible of fashion history- 'Fashion Game Book: A World History of 20th Century Fashion' by Florence Muller is a must have for fashion lovers! This book is basically a history book of fashion in the 20th century that teaches the reader about every designer who has majorly influenced an important part of fashion.
This books spans from the 1800s to present day fashion, covering designs from Paul Poiret and Madeleine Vionnet all the way through to the present day fashion icons Karl Lagerfeld and Marc Jacobs. The colorful and informative photos in the 'Fashion Game Book' will captivate you and transport you throughout the periods of different designs. This book is essential in understanding the history of fashion and the art of appearance.
It is super fun to test your fashion and designer history knowledge with sporadic interactive quizzes throughout the book- these quizzes ask you to match up designers and their muses, to arrange the Chanel No. 5 bottles in chronological order, which iconic patterns represent what brands, quotes from designers, and more!
I thought I knew a lot about fashion until I read this book and realized how much more I needed to learn- This book is the key to understanding fashion and its importance in the history of the world. I have gathered so much amazing and crucial knowledge from reading this book, and it is something that I will keep forever as a reference. You can open this book at page 1 with almost no knowledge of fashion, and close it at page 350 possessing extraordinary knowledge about fashion. I would completely recommend this book to any fashionista who loves fashion and wants to learn more- it contains an incredible plethora of valuable information.
You can purchase this book at any major bookstore or on Amazon (for around $20).

Quite a Worthwhile Read

I purchased this book, "That Extra Half an Inch: Hair, Heels and Everything in Between" written by Victoria Beckham, on my quest to read lots of fashion books this summer. I wasn't quite sure what it was going to be all about, but the few reviews I read were quite positive, so I figured I would give it a shot.

First of all, I absolutely LOVE Victoria Beckham, she is the epitome of posh fashion and glamour, and is definitely at the top of my list of personal fashion icons. She has created quite a name for herself- starting with the international girl band the Spice Girls, then becoming the wife of superstar David Beckham and mom to her lovely boys, and now as a fashion icon to many, even dabbling in creating her own lines of dresses, jeans, fragrance, and sunglasses.

Victoria has accomplished so much already it would be hard to not find value in her advice and tips, especially on fashion! She ALWAYS dresses herself, and has never hired a stylist (apart from things like magazine cover shoots where they have them on set)- she always pulls her own clothes, and styles every outfit herself. Although this may seem like an obvious 'no brainer' for people, you would be surprised... Almost all celebrities have stylists who dress them for every premiere, party, event, and even everyday life- well Victoria does this all on her own, and I believe she pulls it together MUCH better than any stylist ever could.

Victoria uses this book to share all that she has learned over her diverse career. She gives the reader great advice about what is appropriate to wear/how to dress for specific special occasions, work, nights out on the town, dates, etc. And even better, she tells you exactly where to buy these staples- not only at the expensive shops, but also at cheaper stores (like H&M) where you can get similar looks for less.

Victoria gives amazing fashion, style, and beauty tips to make you look fabulous every time you leave the house. The amazing pictures in this book were just as wonderful as the tips and advice- every picture included is absolutely stunning. Flipping through the pictures alone transports you into a fabulously glamorous world of fashion, and inspires you to dress beautifully and appropriately, while always making time to take care of yourself.

Well, clearly I loved every page of this book because I finished it in one and a half days (it is almost 400 pages, but there were many pictures). I would definitely recommend this read to glamour girls who wants some up-front and honest advice from a beautiful, experienced, down to earth superstar who really knows what she is talking about. Two thumbs up to Victoria, she is FABULOUS!

You can purchase this book at any major bookstore or on Amazon (very cheap).

A Must-Read for Fashion Lovers

I decided to buy a few fashion books to read over this summer, and the first one that I have really begun delving into has far exceeded my expectations. Nina Garcia, from the hit show "Project Runway" and long-time fashion director of ELLE Magazine, has some amazing things to say in her book "The Little Black Book of Style".
I wasn't quite sure what this book was about when I bought it- I knew it had to do with fashion (obviously) and that Nina Garcia was quite a viable fashion source; So I figured I would purchase it and see what info I could get out of it, since I am always trying to expand my knowledge about style and fashion.
Nina is such an empowering woman, who uses her unique writing style to convince others of her strong message. She convinces the reader that they must be confident- a confident woman is someone that all people notice and aspire to be like. We must be comfortable in our own skin and love ourselves- embrace the imperfections, quirks and flaws. And we can all feel more comfortable with ourselves and gain confidence through fashion... "What you wear is how you present yourself to the world, especially today, when human contacts are so quick. Fashion is instant language" ~Miuccia Prada.
"The Little Black Book of Style" really surprised me with its content- I can't put it down! This book helps every woman explore and create her own personal style, and with this new found style, exude confidence and tell the world who she is. Nina Garcia includes wonderful tips and tricks on how to dress at every occasion, advice on fashion necessities, and inspiration to always look your best. This is truly a book that every woman will appreciate and enjoy.
You can purchase this book at bookstores or on Amazon.
