Hair 101: Beauty Protector Protect & Detangler

My hair is curly, pretty thick, and super long, which inevitably means I need a strong detangler to tame those knots. I received a sample of the Beauty Protector Protect & Detangler spray in my Birchbox and I loved it so much I had to purchase a full size of the product.
The best news is that Beauty Protector’s leave-in mist is not only a detangler- this product is about as versatile as they come. It conditions, shields from heat and sun damage, and–of course–detangles. This paraben- and sulfate-free detangler seals the cuticles (the microscopic scales that compose the outermost layer of each strand of hair). It also smooths and moisturizes, thereby minimizing frizz, while safeguarding color and adding shine. Lastly, it provides protection against UV rays and heat. Happily, it accomplishes all this through a weightless, non-greasy formula that leaves behind an airy floral scent.
How to use: Shampoo, condition, and towel dry hair. Hold the Protect & Detangle bottle four to six inches away from your scalp, and spray a few times. Comb through hair to ensure that the product is evenly diffused, and style as desired.

You can purchase this product at Birchbox.
Retail price: $21.95

Bumble and Bumble

Wow fashionistas, am I impressed with the blowdry I just got or what?! My hair has never looked so smooth and frizz-free, and it is so silky soft! Check out a pic below!

Want to know the secret? My stylist used Bumble and Bumble products- and here are two of the ones she used that really made a huge difference... The Bb Straight blow dry cream and the Bb tonic spray.

Use the to Tonic on your hair right when you get out of the shower- it works as a fabulous detangler that prepares hair for styling (almost like a primer for your hair!) and you can also use it anytime to dampen and reactivate products already in hair.

The straight blow dry cream features Bb's very own (and very rare) gemstone blend that loosens hair's natural curves. It's part of their new breakthrough smoothing technology that improves hair condition over time for lasting softness and increased manageability. It is best for the curly, thick, coarse, frizzy, unmanageable, unruly (or any combination thereof) haired ladies like myself!

This product is best to use while blow drying your hair- it will be so straight and smooth! To style it straight, work evenly through damp hair and blow-dry, section by section until dry using a flat brush for sleek looks, a round brush for more movement and bend.

You must try these products! Do you have any bumble and bumble products? Which ones do you love!?

New Hair!

Hi Fashionistas! What do you all think of my new hairstyle? This "grown out" golden highlights look is really in right now with all the of the celebs. It looks darker in the picture, but here is the up close look of the color (which looks reddish in this picture for some reason):

Below is the picture that was my inspiration:
I am so happy with the way it turned out. Are you fashionistas going to switch up your hairstyles for Spring?

Want It Wednesday

Like most fashionistas out there, I adore Sex & the City. Of course, I was there opening weekend in NYC to see the fabulous SATC2 movie, and was stunned by the fierce headpiece that Miss Carrie Bradshaw wears in the opening wedding scene. Upon further investigation, I found that this headpiece is by TRIVIAL, and its official name is "The Dark Queen Lace Headpiece". It was handpicked by Patricia Field herself- the amazing stylist for SATC! Even better, you can actually purchase this fabulous piece- It is a handmade, limited edition, made-to-order only headpiece (takes 4-6 weeks to receive it).
How amazingly awesome would it be to actually own and wear this iconic headpiece?! I adore how unique the style is- it is so ferocious and edgy, yet feminine due to its lace composure. Although I would love to own this headpiece, I am completely unsure of where I would wear it- knowing me I would most likely go to the mall and get stared at like I was a freak... Nevertheless, I think it is fierce and would totally take the hit of those awkward stares in return for my love for high fashion.
You can purchase "The Dark Queen Lace Headpiece" by TRIVIAL on Patricia Field's website (www.patriciafield.com)
The Pre-sale price is currently $400; however, the full retail price is $600.

Hair Accessories 101: Flowers

Continuing with the Hair Accessories 101 series, I would like to now focus on flowers. Putting a flower in your hair is such a classic and fun summer style, which looks lovely on everyone. This look can be achieved by using either real live flowers or fake flowers.
There are so many different flower types and numerous hairstyles to pair with a flower- the possibilities are endless! When done correctly, this look will not be childish or silly at all, as one may originally think of it, but rather it will be playful, youthful, feminine, and chic.
One of my personal favorites hairstyles is a low side bun with a flower in it. It is super simple and easy to complete in less than 1 minute!
Here is how to achieve this look: To create the bun, first pull all of your hair to one side. Grab it as though you were going to make it into a ponytail, and twist the entire ponytail. Twirl the twisted ponytail up and circle it around the base. Secure it with a hair elastic and bobby pins. Secure the style and all frizzies with hairspray. To top off the design, clip your desired flower in front of your bun (in the space between your side bun and your ear).
There are so many possibilities with flowers- try them as headbands and clips, try live flowers and fake flowers, try putting a flower in your hair when it is both down and up. Experiment with flowers in your hair and tell me what you think of this style! Have you found a fun look for yourself? Comment and let me know!

Hair Accessories 101: Headbands

My favorite hair accessory ever is the headband. I have been wearing headbands since I can remember because I have always had lots and lots of hair. Headbands are a fun, youthful, and stylish, yet functional accessory that can spruce up any outfit.

The best part about headbands are the variety offered- this accessory can fit any personality because there are so many colors and styles to choose from. Headbands look great with hair up or down, so experiment and find a style that works best for you. They can really add that extra sumthin-sumthinn to your hair and outfit!

Personally, I almost always buy my headbands and hair accessories at Nordstroms. Here are some fun and beautiful styles that they have right now that I recommend:

The Tasha Grosgrain Ribbon Flower Headband for $42 (available in gray, black, champagne, and ivory) Pictured above.
Cara Accessories 'Vintage Rocks' Headband for $38 (available in pink, lilac, gray, and nude) Pictured on model above.

For fashionistas on a budget, I would recommend checking Forever21 for headbands and hair accessories. They are super cheap and great for trendy designs. Here are some that I recommend:
Dual Faceted Bead Headband for $5.80; Pictured above.

Lace Flower Headband for $6.80; Pictured above.

A headband is an accessory that never goes out of style, and is suitable for glamour girls of every age group. Headbands add fun and function to any ensemble, and are an essential for every fashionista.

Experiment with a headband in your ensemble today, and share your favorites on a comment on this post! Thanks for reading!
