Want it Wednesday Live Fashion Event TONIGHT!

Hello, fashionistas! I am overjoyed to tell you all about the fabulous event that is taking place TONIGHT called "Miss Glamour Giirl's Want It Wednesday!" (I previewed the event here last week in case you missed it: Fab-YOU-lous: Want it Wednesday EVENT!), but many more details have fallen into place since then.

This fabulous event will be tonight, Wednesday October 20th, from 6:00-7:30 PM at Babson College in the Reynolds Back Dining Room!
The event is sponsored by Babson's Luxury & Fashion Association! Here are all the details from the LFA invite: Babson alumni Gretchen and Britt Hackmann, founders of Gretchy.com, have teamed up with Fashion Blogger - Miss Glamour Giirl - and Boutique Week founder - Polina Raygorodskaya, another Babson alumn - to put together a "Live Blog Event" Wednesday, October 20th 6-7:30pm in Reynolds Back Dining Room. GRETCHY (www.gretchy.com) – is a fashion e-tailing business that sells dresses by top designers at 50-75% off retail prices and allows the flexibility for girls to sell their dresses back to them.  Miss Glamour Giirl Blogger (http://www.missglamourgiirl.blogspot.com), Annie Maraschiello, a Babson student, writes weekly about all things fashion including "Manly Monday", "Want It Wednesday", and "Fabulous Friday Finds". Boutique Week (http://www.boutiqueweek.net), is a semi-annual national PR event for boutiques that is debuting on October 24. Boutique Week gives customers the ultimate shopping experience all week long by promoting retailers to increase foot traffic and sales!

The event will be U-STREAMED enabling bloggers to post about the event real-time, while it happens! After the behind-the-scenes look into these start-ups there will be an opportunity to network with the founders and mini cupcakes from 5 Bites will be served.

I can't wait to see many of you at the event tonight, thank you all for your continued support!

Beach Fashion

Summer is an amazing time of year- everyone loves spending the day out on the beach or by the pool. This summer fun may leave many fashionistas wondering, what is appropriate beach fashion?
So many times I have seen people walking around in their bathing suits (especially bikinis) with just shorts or in a extra large tshirt over them- PLEASE do not do this! It automatically makes you look sloppy and unpolished- always cover up properly! And when choosing your suit remember that some things need to be left to the imagination, if you get my drift.
Everyone wants to look good on the beach, especially since you are more than half naked in front of strangers... This leads me to the fashionista's most important item for beach fashion: a perfect swimsuit cover-up. A cover-up is so important and every fashionista needs a few in her beachwear repertoire. I personally love the terrycloth halter cover-ups that Ralph Lauren makes to match their suits (picture seen above- I have at least 5 of these and it is what I always wear over my suit to the beach or pool), you immediately look very classic and posh wearing one of these.
If you don't want to spend the money on an actual cover-up, that is totally cool too, you can always opt to use a sundress that you already have in your closet. Anything that is flowy and of light material will work perfectly for a cover-up, and bright colors are extra fun!
Another one of my favorite beach fashions is to wear a huge floppy hat- I think this is so fun, fashionable, and also practical! Wearing a hat like this will shield you from the harmful UV rays, while also giving your beachwear an instant explosion of glamour. Personally, I wear a white floppy hat, which I love because does not attract the sun and matches everything.
Find whatever works best for you and try it out- Thanks for reading and have fun in the sun!

I'm Going Mad!

Mad as a Hatter, that is ;) It was a usual day- I decided to go to the nail salon to get a much needed, stress-relieving pedicure, but BAMMM I stopped dead in my tracks when my eyes laid sight on this color: OPI Mad as a Hatter- A fantastically fun pure multicolor glitter color, like nothing I had ever seen before.

This color was a part of OPI's collection created especially for Disney's Alice in Wonderland movie. There were 4 colors released earlier this year in this special edition collection- Mad as a Hatter (multicolored purple/silver glitter), Absolutely Alice (blue glitter), Off with her Red (tomato red color), and Thanks so Muchness!(berry red metallic shimmer).

At first I was unsure of the Mad as a Hatter color, especially because it is summer, and I tend to choose more bright/bold colors in the summer (bright red, pink, blue, etc). However, I LOVE glitter, and this color is truly 100% pure glitter, like no other nail color I have ever seen, so I knew I would regret it if I didn't give it a shot. Well, thank goodness I went with my gut because I am OBSESSED with this polish! It is so amazing, and even more fabulous in the summertime with the summer sun hitting my toes and making them so shiny and sparkly!

I NEED to get my hands on this color, but unfortunately it is sold out everywhere and is priced around $20 for one bottle anywhere I can find it online (Very expensive when a regular OPI polish runs around $8.50); but, I am so obsessed I may splurge on it- I am so infatuated with this color, I can't stop staring at my toes!

Verdict= FABULOUS!!! (5/5 stars)

UPDATE!!- I found this polish! Woohooo! I was walking around the mall and decided to peek into a few nail salons, not really thinking that they would have it, but crossing my fingers just in case, and there it was! The sole lonely brand new 'Mad Hatter' bottle of polish in the for sale section of polishes. I scooped it up immediately, and better yet, it only cost $8! So excited about this amazing find, especially since I was so close to purchasing the color for $20 online!

Manly Monday!

Hello fashionistas! I am so excited to begin Manly Monday- This will hopefully be a reoccurring blog event on Mondays for awhile, where I will invite a male guest blogger to FAB-YOU-LOUS and we can hear about fashion and trends from a guy's perspective! I'm so pleased to christen Manly Monday with a post by one of my dearest friends, Darius Eslami. Here he is:
Welcome one and all to …….. MANLY MONDAY! When it comes to my wardrobe, I tend to default towards a t-shirt. How exactly can you make such a common article like that into something fashionable? Easy – Threadless.
Threadless is an online t-shirt company where artists submit their designs and the online community votes for their favorites; the highest scorers get their shirt printed among other lavish incentives. I’ve been pushing this site for years now and it’s steadily gaining huge momentum. I don’t think it matters who you are – you can/will find a shirt you adore. Their catalog hosts a variety of designs: abstract, funny, political, slogans, animals, popular cultures… you get the picture.
They print the design on their own shirts, which are very light and fitting. You can search for an existing shirt based on size, color, and design type. There are limited quantities of each shirt, so nab them while you can! If you find a design you LOVE, but it is sold out – you can request a reprint and if enough people do so, BAM! It is reprinted.
Aside from the cool community and frequent contests presented by Threadless – they are pretty affordable. Now, if you know me, I don’t spend too much money and rarely on myself. Threadless shirts generally sell for $20, but they have a handful of sales a year where you can get shirts at discounted prices (typically $10) with a flat rate shipping fee of $5. As you purchase more shirts, you can gain ‘points’ by taking a picture of yourself wearing your purchase and putting it on the site! This is a great way for them to generate repeat customers and it kind of saves you some money on your trendy collection.
I have about 20 shirts from Threadless and I wear them pretty frequently. They work well for social outings as conversation starters (funny/clever designs) or just very cool patterns (abstract/pop culture designs). All in all – check them out. From a guy who tosses on t-shirts – you can definitely look the part you want to play with any one of these in your styling arsenal.

Thanks everyone for reading and I hope you enjoyed the first Manly Monday post- tell us what you think!

MAC Look in a Box

I love MAC Cosmetics- they are of very high quality, have inventive designs, and never disappoint. However, although MAC isn't ridiculously expensive, it is still quite pricey- especially when you buy things separately, and it is unfortunately rare that MAC offers a kit or value set for us fashionistas to stock up and save some money. Well, ladies, our problem is solved- MAC and Nordstrom have teamed up to offer the MAC Look in a Box kit!
This kit is a Nordstrom Beauty Exclusive created especially for their huge Anniversary sale that happens every year. They seem to be making these MAC Look in a Box kits an annual thing- I purchased last year's set at the Anniversary sale, and I love it! I am actually wearing the Dazzleglass lipgloss from that kit as I write this blog post ;)
This year Nordstrom and MAC have worked together to change the kit and update it with the newest and hottest trends, looks, and styles from this year's MAC makeup lines. The Look in a Box kit comes in three different options- Tawny One (golden brown look), Miss Violet (deep pink and purple look), and Frisky Girl (pale pink and nude look). Each kit includes a mascara, gloss, powder, blush, and eyeshadow that go with the desired look. In addition, the kit includes a face chart (like the picture above) so that you can create your desired chosen look.
This kit is a necessity for every fashionista- choose a look that works best for you and that you personally desire the most. I am so excited that Nordstrom is offering this kit again, and I definitely plan on buying one- I am leaning towards the gorgeous pinks and nudes in the Frisky Girl look. I can't wait to try these fabulous products!
You can purchase the MAC Look in a Box kit at Nordstrom.
Retail Price: $59.50 ($87 value)

Hair Accessories 101: Flowers

Continuing with the Hair Accessories 101 series, I would like to now focus on flowers. Putting a flower in your hair is such a classic and fun summer style, which looks lovely on everyone. This look can be achieved by using either real live flowers or fake flowers.
There are so many different flower types and numerous hairstyles to pair with a flower- the possibilities are endless! When done correctly, this look will not be childish or silly at all, as one may originally think of it, but rather it will be playful, youthful, feminine, and chic.
One of my personal favorites hairstyles is a low side bun with a flower in it. It is super simple and easy to complete in less than 1 minute!
Here is how to achieve this look: To create the bun, first pull all of your hair to one side. Grab it as though you were going to make it into a ponytail, and twist the entire ponytail. Twirl the twisted ponytail up and circle it around the base. Secure it with a hair elastic and bobby pins. Secure the style and all frizzies with hairspray. To top off the design, clip your desired flower in front of your bun (in the space between your side bun and your ear).
There are so many possibilities with flowers- try them as headbands and clips, try live flowers and fake flowers, try putting a flower in your hair when it is both down and up. Experiment with flowers in your hair and tell me what you think of this style! Have you found a fun look for yourself? Comment and let me know!

Jack Rogers Navajo Sandals

I recently made such a wonderful purchase that I have to share with all of the fashionistas out there! These classic Jack Rogers Hamptons Navajo Sandals are PERFECT for summer. Almost 50 years after their debut, these Jack Rogers sandals are still the classiest summer sandals around and are a must-have for all fashionistas.
These sandals are crafted from soft leather, have a whip-stitched trim, and a classic flat heel. This hand-laced style is exceptionally well made. They do run a bit small/narrow, but I was assured by the sales associate that the leather would stretch and form to my foot perfectly over time. I can already notice this perfect fit forming after just wearing them for one week. They are very comfortable already, but I can see them becoming even more comfortable with normal wear.
The Navajo sandal comes in so many colors- There is definitely a pattern and color to suit every fashionista's fancy. I personally purchased the 'Platinum' color (as seen in the first picture of this post), which I would really recommend- It is fabulous. This shade is a sort of champagne-ish color that truly goes with everything!
These Jack Rogers sandals are an iconic, sophisticated, and timeless style. As seen in the photo above, even Jackie O was photographed wearing these classic sandals (she made them famous)! These sandals add a timelessly chic vibe to any outfit you pair them with; They are truly a must have item for every fashionista!

Verdict= FABULOUS! (5/5 stars)

You can purchase Jack Rogers 'Navajo' leather sandals at Jack Rogers (in stores and online) or at Nordstrom.
Retail Price: $96

Hair Accessories 101: Headbands

My favorite hair accessory ever is the headband. I have been wearing headbands since I can remember because I have always had lots and lots of hair. Headbands are a fun, youthful, and stylish, yet functional accessory that can spruce up any outfit.

The best part about headbands are the variety offered- this accessory can fit any personality because there are so many colors and styles to choose from. Headbands look great with hair up or down, so experiment and find a style that works best for you. They can really add that extra sumthin-sumthinn to your hair and outfit!

Personally, I almost always buy my headbands and hair accessories at Nordstroms. Here are some fun and beautiful styles that they have right now that I recommend:

The Tasha Grosgrain Ribbon Flower Headband for $42 (available in gray, black, champagne, and ivory) Pictured above.
Cara Accessories 'Vintage Rocks' Headband for $38 (available in pink, lilac, gray, and nude) Pictured on model above.

For fashionistas on a budget, I would recommend checking Forever21 for headbands and hair accessories. They are super cheap and great for trendy designs. Here are some that I recommend:
Dual Faceted Bead Headband for $5.80; Pictured above.

Lace Flower Headband for $6.80; Pictured above.

A headband is an accessory that never goes out of style, and is suitable for glamour girls of every age group. Headbands add fun and function to any ensemble, and are an essential for every fashionista.

Experiment with a headband in your ensemble today, and share your favorites on a comment on this post! Thanks for reading!
